London Bombing

Since you are reading this you know that I am ok. July the 7th was a crazy day in London. I woke up (a bit late) and therefore had to attend my first (8:30) conference call of the day from home. At about 9 I headed to my tube stop at Canary Wharf. The entire station had been shut down due to a "security scare". I then headed to the DLR (train) to get to work. As soon as I boarded the train it was immediately evacuated. At the time no one realized what exactly was going on and my thoughts were that I needed to get to work as I was already late. I flagged a cab and headed to the city. I soon learned it was a small miracle to get a cab at all. People were actually fighting over them in front of the tube station. Traffic was a nightmarish and people were walking everywhere completely disoriented. Accenture, being a sensitive employer, still required everyone put in a full day's work and not to be distracted from the days event because "our deadlines are unaffected by terrorism". On the plus side, since we did work so late, London transportation was partially running by the time we got off (9:30pm, which is early) and spared us the entire walk home. This is my second overseas assignment and my second terrorist bombing overseas. When I was in Manila, terrorist detonated a bomb on a bus just outside my hotel. I am thankful this time to be farther away from the violence. I hope this note finds everyone ok. Till next update, Cheers!

South African Invasion

Spent last weekend hanging out with my ex-coworker Xen who has recently moved to London from South Africa to begin an exciting career at Microsoft UK. I ended up (after getting lost) meeting him and Gonda out at a South African bar for drinks. Typical South African style (in case you are wondering) is basically how everything in the States was in the 1980's ;). I did however have some good South Africa beer and eat some antelope (really). Some of the shots below are at my place after we fled the scene of the bar.
